B-day present

The binding fairy also finished this B-day present for my friends son Austin. He is a big time baseball player and has trophies to prove it. I wanted to give him something snugly so it's all made of flannel and soft batting. My friend Dawn had all her kids in the first 4 months of the year so I have two more presents to make before April. Dawn has also put in an order for a king size quilt for her new bed being delivered the 3rd of March. I'm pretty sure she will have to wait just a bit before I can get a KING size done and besides I don't even know what color she wants...

Whats been going on around here

Last week I got my Happy Block baby quilt done and the binding fairy finished it up. I am happy with it and I'm sure some baby somewhere will love it. I will donate it somewhere.......

Last weekend we took a trip to Co. Bluffs for my uncle's 61st surprise B-day party. It really was a surprise!!! We had a great time and I got to see my cousin Mike and the rest of the family.

Monday we got a call from my other side of the family, Grandma Wilson was not doing well so I packed up my mom and took her down. Three days of waiting and wondering before it was over and the funeral is Saturday.

I am now on my way to pick up a kid from school, he's sick. I have a quilt to do for someone else and I am going to make a quilt for the casket...........

Heart Quit

Part of our quilt group got together to make a heart quilt for a friend of Maxine's last month. I was out of town when they put it together so I got the quilting part done and delivered it this week. I am always happy with the way our group makes these heart quilts turn out so nice. Sorry for the lousy pic but there is no way to hang a quilt out in my studio. I think a design wall is the next thing I should think about out there.

Valentine's Day

This is an end of an era at our house. Sara had her last grade school Valentine's Party last week. No more decorated boxes (or bags like this year) no more treats, no more pencils......It's rather sad for me but on to bigger and better things in the kid's lives. On a happier note, Kev and I had dinner out on Friday and went downtown for margarita's. The kids got candy from Kristin and they all seem happy with it, Brad said his Starbursts were really yummy (he even offered me one!)

We've doubled

We've doubled our heard almost this week! First Heidi had a baby......then Mocha had twins.....then Sadie had triplets!!!! Kev and the kids caught them all and put them in the new chicken house before the blizzard that was predicted yesterday, no snow but the goats are safe and sound.

Winter

I truly believe the only good thing about winter days are the sunsets. I took this pic out my bedroom door. I love the colors the winter sky creates when it's cold, the pinks and purples really make me happy. I think that's the only thing about winter I like.........yup I'm sure everything about winter sucks except the sunsets.
I did a little sewing tonight, a Happy block baby quilt is ready for the binding fairy and a B-day present for my friends son is ready for binding too. I got out my pink and brown disappearing 9-patch and sewed a few more blocks on it also. I need to take it to work and find a border fabric, maybe next week I'll have time to finish it.
I am canning beef for a neighbor tonight so as soon as this batch is done I'm off to bed, good thing this blog has spell check, I'm tired enough I'm typing in circles, to bad it don't have a built in editor...........

baby quilts

Josh helped me finish the baby quilts yesterday afternoon, he told me my hobby sucked.....oh well, guess I don't have to worry about him using my stash! I helped him with his Economics's class project, he really didn't have his heart into it so last minute mom came to the rescue. (I really didn't want him using my sewing machine either) I guess it's a thing to hold stuff while being active, he didn't have a clue how to put it on his wrist so again I saved him with black elastic and some zigzag stitching! I think the boys were feeling better this morning, they all left the house anyway.

nothing exciting

I am really boring this week, hence no posts on this blog. I go to work and sleep...........got sick boys home today and I work tonight again. I am heading out to my shop this afternoon, maybe I will be inspired by something out there.....I do have two denim baby quilts to finish, the babies are coming this week and their Grandma is ready to do the bindings. Better get moving......ugh!!!
